Many of you know me as Chef Patrick, my actual name is Patrick Ruddell.
I started in the domain industry about a year ago and have kept my name private. If someone was to ask I would tell them, it was just not something I published. It wasn’t because I was hiding or trying be someone I’m not, but because I simply wanted some privacy. I did not want to mesh my online work with my real estate dealings.
With becoming such a well known blogger, the upcoming release of some of my products and the probability of some national TV exposure, I feel it necessary to include my name in what I’m doing.
If you’d like to get to know more about me please visit PatrickRuddell.com. If you have any more questions feel free to contact me.

I tell ya what, that PatrickRudell.com site sure has a clean look to it.. whoever set that site up for you sure did a great job, looks great…
just watch out for the junk mail now, and remember.. those offers you get that say you have already won a free car, you just need to come to the dealership to check your numbers… they are lies, oh.. but the McDonalds monopoly game is for real, so keep up with that one.
Hmmm I wonder who did that site for me.
I think me
I used to work under a couple of business names but I, too, enjoy working under my real name.
In my old business I was called Mr. 3 Days because I bought houses cash in 3 days and that was the name of the company. Now I’m called Chef Patrick which is the name of this blog.
I don’t mind what I’m called, it is a part of branding. The most important thing to me is a great reputation.
Reputation is very important, that is also why putting your name out there shows so much about you, build a good reputation and it follows you, build a bad reputation and it haunts you.
When I put my face on my sites, traffic gone up aka it adds credibility.
First Name: Bull
Middle: Shit

I will always like your post…Mr.Chef
I was born in a 3rd world, no electricity, no water, no food…day to day survival…
oh well…life still goes on!!
“I was called Mr. 3 Days because I bought houses cash in 3 days and that was the name of the company.”
lol. That’s cute.
“I don’t mind what I’m called, it is a part of branding. The most important thing to me is a great reputation”
That’s what I meant to say but my mind was blank at the time.
I’m half blond.
Nice to hear about your background and story of success through hard work.
Finally! A real man stands on the reputation and respectability of his real name! Thanks Patrick. You have solidified my ongoing campaign to encourage domainers to not hide behind “handles”. If you’re in this game to advise others with blog comments, or any comments anywhere, let people know who you are and either take the heat or get the kudos. No better branding exists than your good name.
I don’t ever consider a post by someone who doesn’t identify themselves as legitimate and valuable information. If you have something to say in this business, let us know who you are, or just stay in your hole.
Good job. Nice to meet you, and you just moved up my “Domainers To Respect” ladder! Now if you could only convince those p*ssies on certain domain forums to use their real names (or company names) instead of some lame 8th grade “nickname”.
Signed,
“Dude Domainer”
lol
First of all, congrats to you Patrick – you’re doing a great job. I remember when you started your blog, it was just a couple of weeks after I made mine. You’ve worked so hard at it, I remember seeing your comments/posts/banners/rss feeds everywhere.
Of course the content helped too. Great use of various media, keeping it fresh.
@Stephen Douglas, I feel ya Stephen. I have to admit though I started off with an alias. Its not because I wanted to hide or that I was up to something naughty – but was somewhat testing the waters. After all these years online – practically living online – I still at times feel unsafe about using my real ID on certain sites. It starts off as an alias and as I feel safer – I start to use my real name.
Anyway, back to Patrick – was an interesting read. Keep up the good work.
So you’re not really a chef?
No, not a all. Wife does all the cooking in this house.
Actually about nine years ago I managed a Waffle House. Managers had to cook a lot. Wouldn’t consider that a chef though, lol.
@Kevin Ham — I bet it’s not really the “real” KH posting this. Nice try.
However, if you can tell me who invited you to the the DRT 2007 in Seattle, I’ll apologize profusely. In fact, I’ll sell you my complete domain portf of 3700 domains for a measly $3 million.
Ever since I put something about me on all my sites and with nice good fishing pictures of me, all the traffic have gone up tremendously.

Bottom line is, I am what I am….
People like me more about the fishing stories.
Stephen, when can I come over for trout fishin and Chef P can cook for us?
Dear BSW dude (CHRIS?)
That fish is bigger than you.
I will allow you to come fish for little trout in my creek if you take off that Denver Broncos sweatshirt!
It’s nice to know your first name at least. Now, how about your last name?
I hope that my constant lamenting about domainers still hiding behind their handles changes the attitudes of fear from domainers who still think they are the “entities” of their own design… this isn’t StarWars, Hans Solo, this is a business that a lot of people are trying to make legit. Use your real name or lose credibility, fast.
Yo Stephen,
I am going to change my name from Chris Goh to
First Name: Bull
Middle: Shit
Last Name : Websites
That fish is a 450lbs halibut ,from Kodiak.
If you like, send me another sweatshirt. I wear anything that is given to me -FREE.
Putting a picture of what you like to do and a name, adds credibility, heck , what have I got to lose.
If you don’t like me, that damn too bad and you are one BS.
@Chris (Bullsh*t)
Well, I admire a guy who has the balls to pick an obnoxious company name, and promote it with NO FEAR. LOL
I know your name bro. How can I not?
