The T.R.A.F.F.I.C Down Under Conference will be getting underway Tuesday, November 18th at 8am in Queensland, Australia. That’s about 4pm EST Monday evening here in the U.S. This conference will be held at the Sheraton Mirage Resort, one of Queensland’s most beautiful spa and beachside resorts. Day one kicks off with Domain Strategy sessions featuring presentations by Dan Warner of Fabulous and Rick Latona, this will be followed by an Industry Development strategy session. CEO of ICANN Paul Twomey will be the keynote speaker after lunch, the rest of the afternoon will be dedicated to Australian domains and the .AU extension. Wednesday’s sessions include Acquiring Domains strategy, Web Development strategy with presentation by Ron James, Founder of Namepros.com. After lunch sessions include Monetization Alternatives and Asset Sales sessions. Of course there are dinner parties scheduled both days and a load of activities to choose from during the breaks including paintball, zorbing, surfing, and visiting a wildlife sanctuary. As always it looks like it will be a very informative conference with top industry speakers and good strategy sessions.
Unfortunately, I won’t be in Australia for this conference.. Darn! LOL. However, I will be watching the Aftermarket.com Premier Live Auction closely on day three of the conference. There are two auctions taking place on day three. Thursday beginning at 9 am (AU EST UTC +10) which is 5pm EST on Wednesday afternoon for me here in the U.S. the Aftermarket.com Premier Live Auction will commence. There are a lot of great names in this auction such as Coed.com, DigitalVideos.com, iUS.com, Medicinas.com, Migrant.com, Refrigerate.com and many more. There are also a host of great generic .coms that are starting with no reserve like DentalPolicy.com, LuxuryTownhouse.com, SportsMix.com, PrivateResort.com, GourmetStores.com, HotMag.com… Whoa! Great names at no reserve! You can find the full list and auction queue HERE, register to bid at Aftermarket.com. Bidding for these auctions may be done online. You can prebid now for names in the queue or bid live during the auction. This may be a great opportunity to grab a hot .com, it’s not easy to find domains like these at auction most days. There are also many great generic .AU domains that will be auctioned off in this event, it will be interesting to see the how these domains fare. I could not produce a list of domains that will be up for auction during Rick Latona’s auction session which is scheduled for after lunch break later that day. As always with this group it should be a successful, educational and fun T.R.A.F.F.I.C “Down Under”, next stop Silicon Valley, California – April 2009.

Thanks for the article Michael.
I’m keeping my eyes on FixedHomeLoans.com, I own AdjustableHomeLoans.com
Think I’ll email a couple of my buddies that are there now and see if they can sell it.
No problem! Rick Latona has released his auction line up to be found below. A few notables are: Belgium.com, Brussels.net, MO.com, Pete.com, Rome.net, Venice.com, Macro.net and many more! He also has some really great domains at no reserve like: TomatoJuice.com, GranolaBar.com, Patients.net, and Lousy.com!

Thanks for the post and the photos. Was there any talk about domain names or was it all about food, go carts, zorbing and paintball? LOL. Looks like a great time, fun and learning all around. Wasn’t able to make it to this event, but hopefully I’ll get to an event next year. I’m just psyched to have gotten a name into the live auction. Got a pre-bid yesterday, so I’m looking forward to some more bidding when it goes live and getting my biggest sale to date. Not a whole lot of sales under my belt, but I’m getting there. Blogs like this sure help the education, keep cooking and thanks Chef!
Aftermarket.com Live Auction: http://www.domaintools.com/domain-a…/live/DownUnder (auction lots with a red X were either sold or reserve not met – green check marked domains were not auctioned off)
Pretty weak auction, no great sales.. .com.au’s did ok. Technical difficulty syncing internet bids with live auction caused half hour delay which caused several auction lot’s to be excluded from the live auction. The auctioneer was clueless about what bids were coming in online it was rather painful to watch.. Not well coordinated or planned out. Some nice .coms with low reserve went for ridiculously cheap, they easily could have gone for more at venues like ebay or namepros or dnforum.

I did not get to watch Rick Latona’s auction. The results show that they fared pretty well. One six figure sale and several other notable sales. Many auction lots were passed on but most auctions saw some action.
