DomainHack.com Open For Business

Posted on 22 October 2009

domainhack-240x60

Francois of Domaining.com has launched a new marketplace for hack domain names; DomainHack.com. This is the first of its kind! Personally I have never seen a marketplace that offers such domain names. In addition to the unique nature of this domain marketplace I can only see this helping to increase awareness and the value of hack domains.

Do you own a domain hack? Francois is seeking submissions into this brand new marketplace now. Visit DomainHack.com to submit your domain names for sale.

One more thing! DomainHack.com has a cool tool to help you generate hack domain names. Type in the full name and it will make the last 2-3 characters the domain extension if available.  For example, if I typed in Patrick and .ck happens to have it available, it would populate as Patri.ck.

What is a domain hack? (defined by wikipedia)

A domain hack is an unconventional domain name that combines domain levels, especially the top-level domain (TLD), to spell out the full “name” or title of the domain. Well-known examples include blo.gs, del.icio.us, and cr.yp.to.

Domains such as .as, .it, .me, or .us are easy to use as domain hacks because they correspond to short, simple dictionary words. Alternately, a name is chosen so that the last few characters match an existing top-level domain, such as “inter.net”, so that every character is used in forming the common name.

Domain hacks offer the ability to produce extremely short domain names. For example, blo.gs has a total of only five letters (versus blogs.com, at eight letters), as every letter is taken into account as the site’s title.

WebFusion.com – $6.49 Dot Net and Free Hosting

Posted on 26 August 2009

WebFusion.com is back with more specials!

web fusion domain registration and hosting

If you remember, I told you guys about a promotion they ran a while back in June where you could buy .info domains for $0.88 at the time.  That was a great deal.  Now they decided to offer something different.  Actually they are offering a couple different things and I even got the scoop on what the next promotion after this is going to be.

The first deal is any new customers can register a .net domain name at WebFusion.com right now for $6.49 until August 31, 2009.  Please know that at renewal time, after the first year, their usual domain name pricing will apply at that point.  The .net names are considered to be the alternative to the .com names, so if you are in the market for one, you might want to check this deal out.

The second deal they are offering also has to do with the .net registration deal, but takes it a step further.  In that offer, when you register a .net domain name for $6.49 you can get their “Guru Hosting” package where you’ll receive 3 months free hosting.  Normally their Guru hosting package is $14.99 a month, so that’s a savings of $44.97 for those 3 months of hosting.  This offer also expires August 31, 2009.

Now here’s a heads up for what’s coming!  There will be a similar offer starting Sept 1, 2009.  At that point Webfusion.com will be offering .biz domains for $4.88.  The second part of that special will be that they will give 4 months free hosting with a .biz domain.  So 4 months worth of free hosting will save $59.96.  Not a bad savings at all.

I know I’ve said to you guys before that .biz domain names aren’t my favorite in the world, but that doesn’t mean it’s not yours.  If you are in the market for a .biz name then that special might be worth while for you. Even if you don’t like the .biz extension it’s pretty difficult to pass up on four months of free web hosting. This deal begins when the last one ends, September 1st.

Please be sure to check out the offers and read the conditions that apply to make sure you are eligible to receive the specials being offered.

LuxuryNames.com

Posted on 08 August 2009

Yesterday I received my first LuxuryNames.com newsletter and have to say I was pretty impressed. I was surprised to see a nice mix of domain names and price ranges. The best description I can give for the newsletter is luxury meets value. Nothing was overpriced or unreasonable. In fact, there was one domain name in particular I believe to be under-priced, PrivateAirplanes.com listed for only $11,000.

Here are some of the other names they listed:

  • Renovate.net
  • HomeInsuranceRates.net
  • FloorPlans.net
  • MalaysiaVacations.com

I had the opportunity to chat with LuxuryNames.com CEO on the phone and was very impressed with their background. With over 10 years of experience with SEO, domain development and domain investing they certainly have a grasp on what you need.

With domain names ranging from $475 to $11,000, there was something for everyone. I do recommend my readers sign up for LuxuryNames.com newsletter. Don’t worry about getting too many emails, they will only come once or twice per month.
