My First Sale On RickLatona.com’s Newsletter

Posted on 19 November 2009

Early last week I received one of RickLatona.com’s newsletter requesting submissions for religious domain names. I submitted two, ForeverChrist.com and PrayerForum.com. Both were accepted and published in the newsletter. The first name did not sell, but the second one, PrayerForum, sold Friday. The initial asking price was $2,000, the buyer sent in an offer at $1,200 which I accepted. After my initial investment of $200 and Rick’s fee of $200 I cleared $800.

No, this is not a big sale and nothing to brag about, just another day at the office really. I’m writing this more as a testimonial to Rick’s newsletter. It works! I would like to thank Toby and Viju of RickLatona.com for the fast and easy transaction.

If anyone is interested, you can submit your domain names for Rick’s newsletter here.

Also, I reached out to the buyer just minutes ago and he plans to develop the domain name into a Christian prayer forum with zero monetization. I love hearing when a domain name is purchased and put to good use.

Oh and ForeverChrist.com, InterfaithPrayer.com and ReligiousSpace.com are available for purchase if anyone is interested. :)

My First Speaking Engagement

Posted on 06 November 2009

If you remember, on Tuesday I posted “Off To Teach The World About Domain Name Investing“, because I was going to be speaking publicly for the first time later that evening. I spoke to an audience of right around 25 online entrepreneurs about buying and selling domain names. I was able to video record myself and have decided to share a few clips from the engagement.

I would like to personally thank Chris Krimitsos of The Wealth Building Annex for the opportunity to speak and Andrew Douglas of UtterDomain.com for coming to listen to me speak on Thursday. Andrew already knew the information but came to show his support for myself and the industry. At the end of the evening I was bombarded with individual questions. I was unable to get to them all, but Andrew helped out.

I had a lot of fun and can definitely see myself doing this often. In fact, I have already spoken again on Thursday evening and have been invited back to speak some more. I think that means I did ok. :)

Off To Teach The World About Domain Name Investing

Posted on 03 November 2009

Well, not the world, technically. Not yet anyway. I have to take this in baby steps. First, I have to get over my fear of public speaking. If you remember I just got over my fear of roller coasters a few months ago. Now it’s time to get over this one. For me there is no better way than to jump right in and start talking about domain names.

Tonight I will be speaking about buying and selling domain names to a small group of 15-50 attendees. As far as I know, they have zero knowledge of our industry. I will have 45-60 minutes of time to explain the overall essence of buying and selling domains. That’s definitely not enough time to teach our business, but hopefully a start to get them interested.

Not only will I be speaking tonight, but again on Thursday night (provided I make it through tonight). Again, no better way to get over something than to jump right in and face it head on. If everything goes well the organizer and I will put together a 4 hour paid workshop hopefully before the end of the year. I also have intentions of offering my services to anyone that will listen, including domain and blog industry events.

I may try and get everything on video. If I do then I’ll post it tomorrow, as long as I don’t look too bad, lol.

Recap Of IzeaFest 2009

Posted on 06 October 2009

Where to begin? So much went on at IzeaFest.

IzeaFest 09 - Conference Room

Things started out Thursday night at Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream. If you guys remember I am scared to death of roller coasters. I even did a blog post about facing your fears. Since my fear was of roller coasters, I shot a video of me on one. Well, I was with a group of a dozen or so people and everyone of them liked roller coasters. Sorry, I’m not a purse holder, so I jumped in line and got on them all. It really wasn’t that easy to get me on them, but I did and it was fun. We almost missed the bus ride back waiting in line for the last ride, which made us late by about 45 minutes. If you are reading this and were on the bus, I’m really sorry.

Friday and Saturday, at Sea World’s convention center, were spent listening. There were about two dozen or so speakers over the two days discussing everything you can imagine about branding, seo, social media, content and more. Instead of giving a recap of each speaker you can watch for yourself. All of the speakers were recorded. Those recordings are available on uStream. I will say that my favorite speaker was Chris Brogan of ChrisBrogan.com.

IzeaFest 2009 - Conference Room

Friday night was a blast at IceBar. Saturday night was Howl At The Moon, which I did not attend. After two days of drinking at Howl-O-Scream and IceBar I was done. The way I look at it is that this was just a practice run for Domainer Mardi Gras in February. I’ll definitely need to “practice” a little more between now and then.

Everything came to an end Sunday with a day in the park at Sea World. Because I live in Orlando and already have a season pass I did not go to that either.

I’ve posted a dozen or so pictures on my Facebook page and you can also view hundreds of pictures on Flickr.

Overall IzeaFest was a blast and at an amazing value no less. My cost to attend, using an online coupon code, was $114.50. For that I got into Howl-O-Scream, IceBar with 3 drinks, Sea World pass that I can use at any time, lunch Friday and Saturday, 3 t-shirts, pair of crocs, xshot, networking opportunities, good information and a lot of fun!

I’ll be back next year for sure! :)

Heading To IzeaFest

Posted on 30 September 2009

Sorry for the lack of blog posts this week. I have been busy getting ready for IzeaFest, which begins tomorrow night. The event will start off tomorrow night at Busch Gardens in Tampa, FL (Howl-O-Scream) and end Sunday in Orlando, FL at SeaWorld.

izeafest

What is IzeaFest?

Direct from IzeaFest’s website: “An interactive event designed to educate, inform and connect social media enthusiasts. Meet the world’s foremost social media experts in a collaborative, fun and open setting. Learn how to grow your traffic, build your brand and make more money online.”

I am really excited. I’ve never been to Howl-O-Scream. Pretty sad when you think about it, because I have lived in the Tampa Bay area for over 15 years. Between you and me, my wife doesn’t like scary things.

So here is a quick run down of the event. To see the full version go here.

Thursday Night: Howl-O-Scream
Friday: Conference Day – Ted Murphy, Brian Clark, Michael Gray and many more
Saturday: Conference Day – Aaron Brazell, Chris Brogan and many more
Sunday: Sea World

I can’t believe I get all this for $114.50. The original price is $229, but I had a half off coupon thanks to Drew Bennett. The price for Howl-O-Scream is $39 and Sea World is $75, so those two alone equal the cost of my ticket. Throw in some free food, great networking opportunities with some of the top bloggers in the world and oh yea, some education, and this makes for an amazing deal. I almost feel guilty, but I don’t, lol.

I already have a couple of blog posts scheduled while I am away. Unfortunately though, I will not have the time to do my weekly video because of the event and after parties, sorry. Hopefully I can make it up to you guys with the information I learn while at IzeaFest. I may try to blog at the event if I have time, but I doubt I will. I really want to absorb as much information as possible and have some fun too. My little buddy Brian from TeenDomainer.com will be there and I do believe he will be blogging while at the event.

Make sure to follow my Twitter account over the next few days. I’ll be tweeting from the event and sharing pictures. I heard last years event was crazy. :)
