What is not mentioned in the Press Release is that this name was actually owned by NameMedia (parent of BuyDomains). They purchased it for an undisclosed sum less than a year ago.

  2. Jon Kimball says:

No doubt. I wasn’t trying to take anything away from the sale, just thought it deserved mentioning that it was flipped (which deserves its own praise). It’s an impressive sale regardless. Much credit should go to the BuyDomains executive who helped spur the deal.

  3. Pete Lamson says:

    Jon:

My name is Pete Lamson, I am the general manager of NameMedia’s marketplace businesses, AfternicDLS & BuyDomains.

While we are pleased with the sale of ticket.com, it is also worthy to note that the majority of large AfternicDLS domain sales remain private at the request of the buyer or seller.

I can share with you that this morning we also closed another single word domain deal for a seller owned domain name with a final sales price north of $600,000.

And 2 days ago we closed a deal for another seller with a final price of $145,000 (also for a single name).

This is of course in addition to the many smaller private deals that are closed each day as well.

Meaning that while AfternicDLS reports all deals that we can, there is a lot of positive activity going on “behind the scenes” at Afternic.

    I hope this helps.

    All the best,

    Pete

Just wanted to comment that ticket.com has been redirecting to stub hub for months now. I’m curious if the buyer requested to see results prior to completing the sale.

As for the large sale Pete referred to I believe that was luck.com which recently sold for $675K

Amazing stuff afternic, keep the big sales coming!!

  5. Jon Kimball says:

Thanks Pete, but just so we’re clear: Are you saying that this name was not owned by NameMedia (or a subsidiary)? Thanks for clarifying and congrats either way.

  6. Pete Lamson says:

My comments above only pertained to two additional sales made this week that will remain private.

AfternicDLS does not comment on previous or current registrant information for announced sales.

    Pete

  7. Jon Kimball says:

Ok I understand. Thanks for your comments.

    Jon

  8. I wonder how much they would earn in affiliate commission from Stub Hub.
