It seems like auction ended...

<q cite="">"Following legal advice obtained as a result of concerns raised by fellow domaining bloggers and some NamePros members about the legality of an all-pay auction in the US where this site is hosted in addition to consideration of the problems I may face at the end of the auction in case more than one person bids with the same amount which is very likely I have decided that the best option is to cancel this auction effective immediately.

All bids are currently being refunded so please stand by. I will update this page when all bids have been refunded.

I will pay all affiliates that made commissions on this out of my own pocket."

Good luck witth the idea. From the experience that I have with these kind of sies, i do not think it will be that sucessful. And it will take a lot of time and effort to reach 1 million, I personally think it is not going to reach it, but who knows.

I think domainers are the wrong market to target.

You raise some very interesting points here Patrick (and other commenters). I am currently in the process of interviewing John Motson about the Mystery Domain Auction.

I would just like to let you know that although I am interviewing (and I hope you read/comment the interview) I am staying neutral. I expect John knew before he started that he would be walking a very fine line, I just wonder how it will end!

Thanks,
Shane Hudson

HATERS!

We are all adults. Read the rules. If you agree with the terms and conditions participate. If not, Leave the guy alone. He is not committing a crime.

STOP THE HATE and NEGATIVE TALK! I think some of the negative naysayers are just upset that they did not think of it first or perhaps they are upset because they lack THE COURAGE to Carry it out. They are not willing to risk the little reputation they have built for themselves.

Its recreation if nothing else. We will soon find out if he will keep his word. If he does not keep his word then you will have ample and justifiable reasons for criticizing him.

I have personally bookmarked a few links of sites that have patronized the auction. I will patronize them in the future. Initially, we may not see the benefits of posting our links immediately. However, in the long run it may lead to that big break we were looking for.

Please, remain optimistic. If we must criticize let it be with a balanced and non biased perspective.

God Bless

Yea, when folks join they get $20 towards their total but they need to make $50 in total ($30 plus the $20 that they start with) to get paid out. It's a standard affiliate script from http://www.idevdirect.com/

And the $20 for joining is done by everyone - SEOBook.com is one example: http://www.seobook.com/rf/

It's the default settings in the program.

Minimum payout of $50 is quite high though. And you're giving out $20 to all those who join the program??
