Chrome Out Of Beta

Posted on 15 December 2008

Google Chrome beta launched just a little over 100 days ago. It is now coming out of beta with 10 million users. First reaction was that is a lot of users, after looking at the browser market share chart below that equates to only .83%.

I have not tried Google Chrome and at this point do not have any intentions of it. Honestly, I just got used to Firefox which I installed about four months ago. Never know, I didn’t think I would switch from IE either :)

This directly from Google Chrome…
“Internet users have an increasing number of choices for web browsers today, including Firefox, Safari, Opera, and now Google Chrome. Sometimes web pages look and work differently in each browser, so it’s important to test your site across all of them to ensure all your visitors can enjoy the experience you’ve designed.”

I am glad that I am not a developer, I’m sure they are tired of different browsers.

What is Google Chrome?
For those of you that have been under a rock for the last 100 plus days here is an overview video from Google.

Parking Companies Closing Shop

Posted on 12 December 2008

No, parking companies are not closing shop, YET.

As reported on many of the domainer sites Google is now allowing domain owners to directly park with them. Use this link to view the details directly from Google’s blog.

I will be the first to go on record and say that this time next year parking companies will be obsolete. Does this mean run and move all of your domain names to Google, absolutely not.  Just like anything new it has to be tested and tweaked several times before its right.  As of now you will still gain more traffic and money by parking companies.  With a parking company you have more control over the keywords used, optimization, visual appearance and content.

This will change, Google will have these things worked out and perfected, it will just take time.

In the mean time, while they are working out the details, get your domains parked. I know too many domainers that do nothing with their domains. Once they are acquired they sit, why not park them in the mean time and earn a couple dollars? I have accounts with Sedo and Parked, each have their own benefits.  If selling your domain name through Sedo or GreatDomains is your goal then park with Sedo.  By parking your domain with them you avoid the $50 minimum sales charge.  If your looking for greater flexibility and higher payouts, Parked is the way to go.

DNForum Auction Results 12/11

Posted on 11 December 2008

This was the first auction I have attended at DNF. After talking to the guys on the forum they haven’t had one since September, not sure why though.

Overall I would say the auction went well, started with about 40 participants and worked its way down to about 20. The highlight of the night was the sale of STIE.com for $2,000.

Here are some of the other domains sold:
BOTB.com $420
AromaTherapySpray.com with AEIOU mini-site $250
NameChange.net $85
WIQS.com $40
BHHP.com $250
ForeclosureLoans.biz $30 (bought by me)

The .biz purchase is my first one, should make a great mini-site. Great keyword domain with high paying ppc.

Before I let you go, sign up for my newsletter. I am going to keep saying it, sign up. There are some gems that are being deleted and I am giving you the list for FREE. Once a week I send out a newsletter with deleting domain names. Don’t miss out!!!

DNForum Auction Tonight 12/11

Posted on 11 December 2008

Place:  DNForum.com
Time: 6pm EST

We will now be covering all DNF Live Auctions! The next DNForum.com live auction is going to be held Tonight, Dec. 11th at 6pm EST in the chatroom. Although the auction queue is already set, the following information is for future reference. Only exclusive and platinum members can list auctions but all members may participate in bidding. Auction listings are free for exclusive/platinum members to list. There is no prebidding or proxy bidding so to win an auction you must be present.

This live auction should be a good one, there are a total of 60 lots being auctioned off and most of lots have no reserve. I have my eye on a couple lots including lot #1 as I am the seller. ;) There are some really nice domains going to auction including several nice quad premium LLLL .coms. Below is a preview of some lots that I think may see some good action:

Lot #40 – Stie.com
Lot #60 – iibc.com
Lot #51 – Shhm.com (Chef’s Auction)
