Where Has Chef Patrick Been?

Posted on 23 April 2010

Sorry for the lack of blog posts over the last two weeks. I plan on spending some quality time this weekend getting caught up on some posts and schedule a few out for the upcoming week. I also have plans to have Elizabeth over tomorrow to help me with this week’s news video.

What have I been doing? Working!!!

So far I’m loving it at Oversee.net. The first 30-60 days with any company are always a challenge. It takes time to learn the systems, routines and people. The team here in Ft Lauderdale is awesome, a real pleasure to work with. Obviously I can’t divulge trade secrets, but one thing I can tell you, everyone here works very hard to get things done.

That’s it for now, I’ll write more this weekend. :)

Moniker Brings In A Hired Gun – Chef Patrick

Posted on 08 April 2010

As of April 1st, I am Oversee.net’s newest hired gun (Domain Sales Specialist) brokering domain names for Moniker/SnapNames. You all know me as a hard core entrepreneur. I haven’t worked for anyone but myself for the last 5 years. I know you are wondering why I would accept a position with ANY company, so I’ll tell you why.

One of my main goals for 2010 was to become a domain broker. Of course I can do that on my own and was already doing so, but teaming up with Oversee.net is an enormous help towards achieving this goal. When I contact someone to sell a name, I now have the power of a top ten registrar and an industry leading company to back me up. They already have the worldwide brand status that I haven’t yet achieved. They are a full service domain company offering parking and registrar services in addition to having a market place.

Another reason I took this position is that I’ll be learning from the Moniker brokerage team and training with two of the best brokers in the industry – John Mauriello and Howard Kopp. John has been with Moniker for 5 years and has helped sell domains like Porn.com $9.5 million, Computer.com $2.1 million, Seniors.com $1.2 million, CreditCheck.com and FreeCreditCheck.com $3.5 million and most recently Guns.com $800K. Howard has been with Moniker for 3 years and has helped sell domains such as Exterminator.com $600K, ScreenSavers.com $335K and Bankruptcy.net $56K. With their combined 8 years worth of experience and tens of millions in domain name sales, I think I have come to the right place to learn.

Of course, one of the most important factors for me with this decision was my family. Being self employed means I make it to whatever family functions I want. It means I’m heavily involved with my wife and kids. Luckily, Moniker is a family oriented company.

Let me be clear though, just because I’ll be working with them now doesn’t mean everything else stops. We managed to work it out where I still get to continue on with my ventures as planned including my blogging, development and yearly cruise/conference. I know you were worried for a second there.

I want to thank everyone at Oversee.net and Moniker/SnapNames for making this opportunity possible. I’m thrilled to be coming on board and am excited for what the future holds for all involved!
