My First Sale On RickLatona.com’s Newsletter

Posted on 19 November 2009

Early last week I received one of RickLatona.com’s newsletter requesting submissions for religious domain names. I submitted two, ForeverChrist.com and PrayerForum.com. Both were accepted and published in the newsletter. The first name did not sell, but the second one, PrayerForum, sold Friday. The initial asking price was $2,000, the buyer sent in an offer at $1,200 which I accepted. After my initial investment of $200 and Rick’s fee of $200 I cleared $800.

No, this is not a big sale and nothing to brag about, just another day at the office really. I’m writing this more as a testimonial to Rick’s newsletter. It works! I would like to thank Toby and Viju of RickLatona.com for the fast and easy transaction.

If anyone is interested, you can submit your domain names for Rick’s newsletter here.

Also, I reached out to the buyer just minutes ago and he plans to develop the domain name into a Christian prayer forum with zero monetization. I love hearing when a domain name is purchased and put to good use.

Oh and ForeverChrist.com, InterfaithPrayer.com and ReligiousSpace.com are available for purchase if anyone is interested. :)

SnapNames Makes Adjustment To Halvarez Rebate Offer Agreement

Posted on 19 November 2009

Two weeks ago SnapNames made public the Halvarez fraud and how they intended to clean things up.

Since the release three main concerns have come up:

-Halvarez should be charged for criminal actions.
-Rebates should include ALL auctions that Halvarez bid in, not just where he placed second.
-The rebate agreement was blanketed to cover SnapNames of every wrong doing ever, instead of limiting it to the Halvarez issue.

Today SnapNames released a letter to all of it’s customers taking care of the last issue. “Accordingly, the revised copy states precisely that the agreement addresses only the SnapNames auctions in which there was bidding activity from the user name “halvarez.”

Below is a copy of this letter.

LuxuryNames Auction Starts Today With Over $3000 In Prizes

Posted on 18 November 2009

LuxuryNames.com has teamed up with DomainSuperstar.com to put together a couple great prizes for two successful winners in the LuxuryNames auction at SnapNames starting today and ending on November 24th.

Prizes:

Grand Prize includes both €1,000 of COLD HARD CASH (approximately $1,487 US) and a FULL YEAR subscription to Domain SuperStar’s Premium Tools, valued at $770, making this prize worth over $2,250 US.

Second Prize is a full year subscription to Domain SuperStar’s Premium Tools valued at $770, no cash included.

(Only persons who have successfully won and paid for an auction will be eligible – full  details will be announced tomorrow but I have the scoop today).

Why is LuxuryNames doing this?

They believe in this industry and believe in buyers who want to develop great names. They also understand some may need a little help in this incredibly tough economic time. Obviously the goal of the auction is to sell domain names, however they also believe many domain owners want to mature faster in the development stage, so what better way then to provide some premium tools and cash to do this.

What can the €1,000 be used for?

The goal of this contest is to help the lucky winner financially to bring his/her new domain to life. The money will be paid directly to you. Of course it’s understood that some may want to use the money to pay off credit cards, enjoy a cheeky night out or double down at the poker table, however the hope is the winner will use these funds for development – something that can be showcased down the road if so desired.

The winners will be determined in a video drawing on December 1st (one week after the auction close) by me, Chef Patrick, with at least one lovely assistant. LuxuryNames has already gone on record saying they take no responsibility for the video on December 1st. You know how I announce winners. ;-)

What are you waiting for? 80% of the domain names in this auction have reserves under $1,500. Bid now!

5 Tips For Selling Domain Names

Posted on 17 November 2009

Selling domain names is not easy, and unfortunately, receiving unsolicited quality offers does not happen every day. Below is a list of 5 tips to help make selling your domain names a little easier.

  1. Post a link on your website or parking page letting everyone know the domain name is for sale. Most parking companies have this option available. I would also make sure to keep your whois information accurate. If buyers can’t find you, they can’t make offers.
  2. List your domain name with multiple auction companies like Sedo.com, AfternicDLS.com and BuyDomains.com.
  3. Search the terms used to describe what your domain name would be best used for. An example would be UsedCarParts.com, I would search for “Used Car Parts”. Then send an email to the first few pages of results asking them if they would be interested in purchasing my domain name. Either your domain name is better than theirs or they may want to reduce any possible competition.
  4. Contact alternate extension owners. With the example used above, UsedCarParts.com, I would reach out to the owners of UsedCarParts.net, .de, .co.uk, and so forth.
  5. List your domains for sale on domainer forums like NamePros.com, DomainState.com and DNForum.com. Selling to end users will, in most cases bring in the highest offers, but selling to domain investors may mean quicker, easier sales allowing you to sell higher quantities of domain names. Plus, some domain investors are end buyers!

One last piece of advice, from the outside in we are looked at as domain squatters. So when receiving and sending offers always play the roll of a developer. Act as if you had plans to develop and either those plans have changed or you can be persuaded to change them.

Now go out and sell some domain names, be proactive!
