Guns.com Sells For $800,000

Posted on 08 March 2010

Ron Jackson of DNJournal.com just reported the sale of Guns.com for $800,000 by Moniker. I knew a deal was going to get done on this domain name. It was up for sale during DOMAINfest’s last auction in January and was very close to the reserve.

Guns.com $800,000
Google Search: not listed on first three pages
Google Page Rank: 3
Alexa Rank: 773,676
Domain Status: Parked
Compete.com: 13,503 unique and 15,021 total visits per month
Keyword: 823,000 local and 1,220,000 global searches per month

Congratulations to Moniker on holding the number one spot for the top .com sale so far this year. :)

“but recently taken control of by DomainCapital.com. I wonder if this was a repossession?”

Or maybe DomainCapital.com financed the sale.

I don’t think that is the case here, they took control in October which was before the sale.

Definitely sounds like it was a repo. Gregg, are you on here to confirm?

I was told by the seller it was not a repo. I removed that portion from my blog post at his request.

More likely that domain capital financed the last deal. The domain name sold and DC got paid and released the name to the new owner. Just my guess…

Guns.com is what initiated my interest in domains.

My business partner was long time hood friends with the former owner. He arranged a meeting in our offices where we walked thru the web analytics. I was shocked to see how much traffic went to the site and how much it made on Adsense. We were trying to learn best practices for maximizing Google revenue.

After that meeting, I became a domainer full time.

Congrats on the sale.

Sorry should says “long time friends”. I think they were “child hood friends”, but I don’t remember.
