I can see it: in the future, all the massive portfolio holders combine and at some point their drop-catching/auction platforms become sentient… leading, of course, to the construction of domaininator cyborgs which they send back to the past to harass anyone with an active whois port… !
Have the character (PATRICK) blowing off the threat, and registering a premium domain, and then have the domaininator kind of lurk up behind him
